It is only my first few weeks as Lethbridge Chapter President of EWI and already I am overwhelmed with humility and pride to be representing this group.
First, Barry Litun, Superintendant of Lethbridge School District 51, made a point of tracking me down at a meeting last week to publicly thank EWI for supporting Senator Buchanan School, our adopted partner for 2010.
In choosing Senator Buchanan, the women of EWI Lethbridge voted with their hearts in a wave of compassion for the needs of the children in supporting both the breakfast and reading programs. I believe that over this next year we will do our best to build an ongoing relationship that can be mutually nurturing to all; not only the students but also our EWI members and the school administrators.
Second, I was honoured to acknowledge the substantial impact of the EWI scholarship program, both locally and at the Corporate level ($4.5 million dollars!!), in front of 120 or so friends, members and invited guests at the spectacular evening at the Coast Hotel October 21st with speaker Bruce Lee.
I am so proud to be part of this organization, and to be surrounded by so many successful Lethbridge business women; and look forward to getting to know each of you even more as the year goes by.
